Mail & Postal Services
Simple items such as postcards etc can be sent from the reception
desks of most major hotels. For major items, if you want speedy
clearance, go to the main Post Office in Patong Beach, located along
Rat-U-Thit Road, next to the Patong Palace Hotel at the northern
end of Patong. Open 8am to 4.30pm. The Thai post service is usually
reliable. Urgent or important items can be sent by EMS. This is
faster and safer but the cost is higher.
Telecommunications & Internet
International phone calls, Fax, and Internet services are available
in Kamala. Most hotels can provide telephone and fax services. For
long distance or overseas calls you can phone from most travel agencies
or business offices, they will charge by the minute plus a service
charge. Or call from you hotel (can be expensive.) Alternatively
you can call from the mobile phone stands located on the side of
the street.
They offer the use of their mobile phone to make long distance
or overseas calls for a fixed price per 5 minutes. Local calls are
easily made from public phones but you will need to check whether
the phone is a card or coin phone. Telephone cards are available
from various places such as Seven-Eleven convenience stores, some
stationary stores and pharmacies, the post office and telephone
authority offices.
