Activities in Kamala Beach |
|
While Kamala is one of the quieter beaches in Phuket,
there's still lots to provide a break from all that sun, sea and
soft white sand... Have a ride on a Banana Boat which doesn't
require any other experience than a good grip and a sense of fun...
(200 Baht per person). Try Water-skiing (monoski and double
skis) about 700 Baht for a 20 minute ride, or go exploring on a
jetski 1,000 Baht for 30 minutes. Parasailing - an adrenaline
pumping 5 minute parachute ride pulled by a powerful speedboat over
the sea - for just 400 Baht. (From around 40 metres up the views
are fantastic!) Operators will accompany you on your flight if you
don't feel comfortable on your own. Not recommended on windy days.
If you want something slightly less hectic, hire a windsurfer, take
a leisurely paddle in a canoe
along the coast, or rent a local longtail boat and go fishing
or snorkeling
on the small reef nearby.
If you're in the mood to relax there's no better
way than with a Traditional Thai Massage, under a shady tree,
for around 250 Baht for one hour. Please note: If you have a back
or neck problesm, mention it to your masseuse to avoid overdoing
the stretches. Alternatively have a pedicure, or manicure while
you sip your coconut on the beach. And when the sun goes down? Kamala's
nightlife is essentially low
key. You can return to the beach for a great meal at one of the
local restaurants serving fresh seafood and watch the moon dance
on the water, or listen to some music at one of the local cafes.
Simply eat, drink and relax...

If you're bored with the beach you could hire a jeep and
explore
the island. Rental companies are easy to find, just ask at
your hotel
reception, or in the shopping area. You won't really need
to hire a car if you stay at Kamala Beach as everything is
within easy walking distance, but it's a great way to discover
the rest of the island...
